Customer Preparation for Cockroach Treatments:

The following steps should be taken when the interior of your home is being sprayed for cockroaches. Failure to appropriately prepare for the arrival of the technician will void any provided warranty, and the technician may refuse to perform treatment if they deem treatment to be pointless due to inadequate preparation.

Before the Treatment:

  • Remove all food items, dishes, utensils, cookware, etc. from all cupboards and drawers in the kitchen. Do not place these items on your counters as the back-splash area may require treatment as well. You can place these items either on or below your kitchen table and cover them.
  • The kitchen must be cleaned thoroughly, especially the sides of the stove, back-splash and anywhere grease or food may be. Cockroaches live on this debris and the treatment will not be as effective if this is not cleaned.
  • Remove all items from bathroom vanities above and below sink, place in the bathtub for temporary storage if required.
  • Remove items from shelves and floor areas of bedrooms, closets and any other storage spaces within the home. Clothes hanging in closets can remain where they are.
  • Pull all furniture and appliances away from the walls about one foot in order to give access to the baseboards of the home.
  • All windows are to be closed prior to treatment. All adults, children and pets must be away from the home for a minimum of 4-6 hours after the treatment. Any aquariums are to be unplugged and covered with a towel or blanket. Any people with asthma, children under two years of age, pregnant women, seniors, or people with health concerns should remain out of the home a minimum of 8 hours.
  • Smoke detectors must be disabled during this time as the treatment will set them off. They must be enabled when you return.

After You Return:

  • If you chose you can air out your home by opening all windows and doors for 5 to 15 minutes. Use a fan to help circulate the air if possible. There should be minimal odour and the odour will not harm you in any way. It will lessen within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Do not wash baseboards or interior cupboard surfaces for at least 4 weeks. You should place either wax paper or paper towel on the bottom of all your cupboards and drawers before returning your food items and dishes. You can remove this paper after 4 weeks. This acts as a barrier between the surface that was treated and your belongings.
  • Enable your smoke detectors.

What you can expect:

Activity will be seen. This is normal and must occur. Not all insects are eliminated 100% at the time of treatment. Individual insect biology is different and are affected at different rates by the treatment.

You will see many dead cockroaches, depending on the population.

In the case of cockroaches a second follow up gel will be required in three weeks. Preparation for the second treatment will not be required.

If the infestation is particularly bad you may require two or more spray trreatments before the gel.
